Apologies for the delay in getting info to you regarding the advertised St. George’s drive it day on Sunday 20th April but from feedback I was receiving it seemed that there wasn’t a lot of enthusiasm for the event, however as we approach nearer the date it would appear that there is indeed some interest.
The event was advertised to encourage owners of classic Jags to support the Federation of Historical Vehicles for the ‘National Drive it Day’ and to drive their cars so that as many classics could be seen throughout the country.
The London region of the JEC welcome all Jaguars/Daimlers (new or old) or other classic cars to join us at Syon Park in Brentford for an informal get together and picnic (bring your own food/drink) if you wish.
The gardens and the house will be open to visitors but members are free to view these, I have not arranged an organised trip, so it is a ‘do your own thing’ so to speak.
Several members have indicated that they might avail themselves of the cafeteria in the large garden centre or if the weather is poor possibly to find the nearest pub.
I suggest we meet about 11.00am in the top left corner of the main car park (near the former butterfly house) as there should be a suitable spot to congregate nearby.
The house and gardens are situated close to the A4 at Gillette Corner and is well signposted from there (just past Homebase on the left).
If you want to attend just turn up. You can contact me by e-mail if need be.
Hope to see you there.
Mick Owen
